About Saltraven:

Saltraven Kft., which previously operated under the name Ökoprodukt Kft., proudly reflects on its founding in 2005. In the beginning, the company dealt with environmentally friendly products and services, mainly providing advice to ÖKOSYS Zrt. Over the years, we have recognised the importance of sustainability and the growth of environmental protection needs, which encouraged us to further develop. In 2013 we began to introduce ecologically degradable packaging materials at events and festivals.
In 2023, we opened a new chapter in the company’s history, with an expanded ownership circle and a commitment to the latest up-cycling approach to sustainability.
From September 2023, we will continue our activities under the name Saltraven Kft., and our mission is to provide our customers with global solutions in the field of waste management.

The Ownership Group:

The founders of Saltraven Kft. are the owners of Catering Company Kft. and Ökosys Zrt., who have entered into a strategic agreement with Origo Film Group Zrt. and Mid Atlantic Films. Further negotiations are ongoing with other, equally significant and decisive players in the film industry, as our goal is to reduce the film industry’s carbon footprint and promote environmental protection. Our leading professionals have more than 25 years of experience in film catering, environmental management, food safety, sustainability audits and management consulting, as well as the distribution of single-use restaurant packaging materials.

Saltraven’s Purpose:

Saltraven Kft.’s aim is to provide its partners with comprehensive solutions to reduce environmental impact. We determined the minimisation of waste from catering and the selection of waste generated at filming locations as our first priority. During waste management, our most important principle is to manage waste at the point of origin, as well as ensuring special attention to the treatment of special organic waste is adhered. We implement this idea in a 100% controlled and certified way, with full supervision and management of the waste stream.

What We Offer:

Saltraven Kft. handles waste separately for each film production and provides customers with unique data and information. This information allows customers to make further improvements and direct their waste management in film production more effectively. In the ESG reports, data and information related to food consumption and waste are also transparently available.
Statements regarding the assurances our clients require, that we treat waste in accordance with legal requirements and radically reduce the amount of municipal waste to less than 30% are compiled. In addition, waste management reports, which enables a simple comparison between the waste generated by our productions and the metrics of their management are created.
Based on the specific metrics, the results that contribute to sustainable development become visible within a year. These include the number of staff, the amount and type of single-use devices, and the amount of waste per person (selective, communal, compostable, etc.). We measure and evaluate our data on a daily and production level, so that the materials used and their usage ratio become visible.

We measure, register and, if necessary, sort all received waste – including office waste. In the long term, we plan to introduce professional development so that productions handle waste registration separately and that selectively treated waste is collected in degradable bags. Our goal is to reduce the amount of municipal waste by 50%. During the process, we record the waste before and after processing (paper, metal, plastic, municipal), and then the results are documented in detail on a daily and production level. The long-term goal is to illustrate and optimise the energy quantity and man-hour values.

Advantages of Saltraven Kft.’s Organic Waste Processing:

The technology is an efficient and sustainable way of processing organic waste. This method is commonly used for the treatment and recycling of biological waste and has some key advantages:

Biodegradation: This process uses microorganisms (usually bacteria or fungi) to break down organic matter, such as food waste or plant residues.
As a result, organic substances break down into simpler compounds.
Compost production: The materials produced during the process can be used to make compost, which is an excellent soil improver in agriculture.
Reduction of organic waste: The technology helps to reduce the amount of organic waste, as it transforms decomposable materials into valuable products (compost).
Environmentally friendly solution: The process is environmentally friendly as it does not use toxic chemicals and reduces the burden on landfills.
Moderate environmental load: During the process, the treatment takes place locally, which results in a significant reduction of the logistical environmental load.
Moderate odour and noise: A well-designed and operated system produces moderate odour and noise levels.

The technology therefore offers many advantages in the treatment and recycling of organic waste. However, proper planning and management are important to achieve efficient and environmentally friendly results, which Saltraven Kft. provides.

Description of the Waste Management Process:

Saltraven Kft. is committed to the development of efficient and sustainable waste management processes. We make the process transparent and continuously monitor it so that the environmental protection and cost reduction goals are achieved.

– Sustainability Training: If required, at the beginning of each new film production, we hold training for crew members on the importance of sustainability and the waste management process. Afterwards, we review and evaluate the acquired knowledge with online tests.
Assessment of Waste Management Requirements: We assess the waste management requirements of stakeholders, such as customers, film producers, studios, catering companies, crew members, municipalities, waste managers and energy providers. This allows us to provide solutions that meet the specific needs of film production.
Definition of the Waste Management Process: We define the process of waste management and sorting, as well as the infrastructural and environmental conditions. This includes the management of both compostable and non-compostable waste.
Selection and Monitoring: The waste collected from the filming locations arrives in bags at the sorting location. First, compostable and non-compostable waste is sorted, and then the individual waste fractions are selected.
Data recording and monitoring: We continuously record and monitor the amount of received and sorted waste, so we can monitor waste production and data in real time.
Composting and Production: We treat organic waste locally, thus minimising the cost of transporting food waste and its impact on the environment. Further use of compostable waste is possible.
Environmental Data and Information: Based on the data collected during the process, we monitor emissions, including water, steam and carbon dioxide emissions, to determine the carbon footprint of film productions.
Measurement and Statements: Saltraven Kft. strives to provide measurable results and data. These include:
• Amount of waste generated per person.
• Amount of selective waste per person, broken down by waste type.
• Food waste per capita.

The data and reports help customers understand their waste management performance and areas for improvement.

What Happens to the Up-cycled Product?

Saltraven Kft. coordinates waste processing in continuous cooperation with partners from the start of production filming.

At the end of the process, we have several options for using up-cycling:

The production/studio can receive the product to use as a soil conditioner.
The Kaposvári Campus of the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences uses it for research purposes and for soil improvement in its model farm.
It is used by the Hungarian Soil Improvement Association for research purposes in partner farms.
We use it in our experimental plant.

Saltraven Kft.’s strategic partner is URS Hungary Kft., which has been operating as a subsidiary of an international holding in Hungary since its foundation in 2013. The company is present in more than 44 countries serving more than 55,000 customers (including but not limited to GBR, CZE, ITA, POL, GER, HUN, FRA, RUS, BGR, USA, ARE, PAK, CN, ZA, etc.). Its main profile is the independent certification of „ISO” management systems. It holds several international accreditations, including UKAS, DAkkS, CIA, IATF, DAC, EGAC, and SAC.

Another main activity of URS Hungary Kft. is the inspection service, where it carries out inspections in various industries that verify compliance with customer-specific expectations. This set of criteria may be provided by the customers or jointly developed by the customers and the employees of URS Hungary Kft.
